Lakeland Senior High School is an inclusive secondary school community that fosters academic excellence, personal development and student wellbeing. Located in the suburb of South Lake, just 22 kilometres south of Perth, it can be easily accessed by public transport. A welcoming and supportive environment is provided for students from all backgrounds. The school has an established international support community. 

Smaller class sizes allow teachers to get to know the students and focus on their education and wellbeing. Committed to delivering a high-quality education, the school has a comprehensive curriculum on offer that prepares students for further education, training and employment. Life at Lakeland Senior High School

At Lakeland Senior High School, dedicated and experienced teachers provide engaging learning experiences that inspire students to reach their full potential. A dynamic and inclusive curriculum is available that caters to a wide range of interests and aspirations. Students in Years 11 and 12 can choose from an extensive selection of ATAR subjects to support university entry, including English, humanities and social sciences, mathematics, science and technologies. A broad range of general and vocational education and training (VET) courses is also available, ensuring flexible pathways for all students. The school has specialist touch football and music technology programs. The Achieve Program, an academic enrichment initiative for students in Years 7 to 10, is offered to those who meet specific entry criteria and aims to extend and challenge high-achieving students. 

The Lakeland Senior High School community fosters a strong sense of belonging, encouraging students to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities such as sports teams, fitness programs, drama, performing arts and music ensembles. International students are welcomed into a friendly and inclusive community, where they are supported in making new friends, adjusting to the Australian education system and embracing a wide range of new opportunities. 

Support for students 

International students are offered English as an additional language or dialect (EALD) as additional support to assist them to develop proficiency in the English language, focusing on learning across the curriculum so they acquire the English language skills relevant to each subject area. 

Lakeland Senior High School staff are committed to student wellbeing and provide a range of support services to help students achieve success. These include a dedicated student services team offering academic guidance, pastoral care, career counselling, wellbeing programs and regular check-ins with students. By ensuring a supportive environment, students are empowered to confidently navigate their academic and personal journey.

Settling in 

Lakeland Senior High School staff ensure that international students feel comfortable and supported from day one. Students are offered a structured orientation program to familiarise them with the school grounds. International students will enjoy a welcoming community that embraces cultural diversity and are invited to join the international student club or the Lakeland engagement team. 

There is regular communication with parents and guardians to keep families informed about the students' progress.
