Before students can begin their education in Western Australia, they must submit an application for a school.
1. Select 4 schools

You will need to select 4 preferred schools when you submit your application. Each school lists the courses offered, specialist programs, and the school’s facilities. We recommend you consider what the student wants to study and what facilities are most important to them.

Find a school.

2. Prepare welfare and living arrangement information

You will need to provide information on your welfare and living arrangements when you submit your application. To find out more about the available living arrangements, refer to student accommodation

3. Prepare documents for application

Prepare the documents that need to be submitted along with your application. These include:

  • the student’s most recent education results and transcripts (in English)
  • a copy of their passport.
4. Apply online

Allow 10 to 15 minutes to complete your application. Begin the online application with TAFE International Western Australia

5. Accept the offer

If your application is successful, you will receive a letter of offer. This includes enrolment information about the school, year of enrolment, start date and tuition fees.

To accept the offer:

a. sign and return the letter of offer

b. pay the amount listed by the due date.

c. meet any other conditions that have been listed.

When you have accepted the letter of offer and made the payment, we will review the welfare and living arrangements information you have provided in your application. You will be issued with a confirmation of enrolment. This confirms a place in a Western Australia Government school.

When you receive the confirmation of enrolment you will also receive the school details. You can then make an appointment with the school to complete the enrolment process.

A condition of enrolment is that you give authority for your personal information to be provided to the Australian Commonwealth Government and Western Australian state agencies, overseas student health cover providers, the Department of Training and Workforce Development, and the Department of Education.

6. Apply for a student visa (subclass 500)

International students are required to hold a student visa (subclass 500) before they can enter Australia and begin their studies. Students must accept an offer of enrolment into a school before they can apply for a student visa.

Student visa applications are submitted through the Department of Home Affairs

7. Receive student visa and organise travel

Once your student visa is approved, it’s time to arrange travel to Western Australia. Students should arrive at least a few days before school starts. However, they must not arrive before the date listed on their letter of offer.

We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians of the lands and waters on which our students live and are educated throughout Western Australia.

We acknowledge and understand that Elders, parents, families and communities are the first educators of their children and we recognise and value the cultures and strengths that Aboriginal children bring to the classroom. Aboriginal people have a long tradition of teaching and learning through sharing their connections with country, community, language and culture, and through their oral histories, stories and lived experiences that are passed from generation to generation. We recognise and value the learning that Aboriginal children bring with them from their homes and communities into the classroom.
