Mount Lawley Senior High School has been successfully educating international students for over 20 years and empowers students by providing skilled teachers who focus on meeting their needs, a strong sense of community and a technology-rich environment.  The school has received many awards for its high-quality education, including the 2021 Western Australian International Education Initiative of the Year – schools. The school was also a finalist in three categories of the WA Education Awards in 2021

The school has a broad range of subjects on offer, this including Specialist Mathematics, a full range of Science subjects and the opportunity to study one of the  specialist language courses such as  Italian, Chinese, French, Japanese and Korean languages.  The school offers Specialist Programs in jazz music, visual and performing arts, and academic excellence.

Mount Lawley Senior High School accepts international students in Years 10, 11 and 12.

Life at Mount Lawley Senior High School

Teachers at Mount Lawley Senior High School are highly trained in their areas of expertise. They have extensive experience working with international students and tailor learning to the individual needs of each student.

International students are an important part of the school community. They study and socialise with local students and are supported to achieve their best.

Support for students

Students at Mount Lawley Senior High School receive a high level of pastoral care and academic support. They have a dedicated student services team, with a manager, psychologists, chaplain, healthy active coordinator, nurse, inclusive education coordinator and other support staff. The school also offers academic and career counselling for all students who need guidance.

Homework club is available for students two days per week, and teachers are always available to provide additional academic support if it is needed.

Mount Lawley Senior High School provides an international student coordinator who liaises with the students to monitor their attendance and academic progress. The coordinator also provides pastoral care support and liaises closely with the student’s family and their homestay

Settling in

All international students attend an induction program, where they learn more about the school. Every new student is paired with another student, who helps them settle in and make new friends. There is also a special welcome breakfast and a mentor program.

Students receive support throughout the school year from their international student coordinator. They also have access to a dedicated space, affectionately named ‘Tiny House International,’ a place for international students to eat, study and socialise. Students have made the space their own, adorning the walls with photos of their families and sharing their cultures with other students.

  • Mount Lawley Senior High School is 4 kilometres from the Perth city centre. The campus is next door to Edith Cowan University, close to coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping centres. The WA Museum Boola Bardip, The Art Gallery of WA and other exciting attractions are nearby in the City of Perth too. Students can easily walk or explore the local area using public transport.
